LOS ANGELES - Is Lindsay Lohan pulling a Polanski?
The troubled actress insists she can't face a Beverly Hills judge in her DUI case Thursday because someone swiped her passport - and she's now trapped in France.
"Lindsay went to the airport yesterday in an attempt to get home, even though she did not have her passport," her lawyer Shawn Chapman Holley said. "She was turned away."
"She is now doing everything in her power to get a temporary passport so that she can make it back to Los Angeles to attend her alcohol program and appear in court," Holley told The News.
The "Mean Girls" star was attending the Cannes film festival even as prosecutors warned they may move to jail her for missing mandatory alcohol education classes she must complete after two DUI arrests in 2007.
"If the court determines Lindsay Lohan has violated the terms of her probation or failed to abide by the court order, I will be asking for substantial jail time, which could be up to 180 days," said Deputy District Attorney Danette Meyers.
Lohan's estranged dad Michael Lohan called his daughter's stuck-in-Paris sob story "just another lie," according to RadarOnline.com, but mom Dina Lohan jumped to her defense.
"This was not a planned scheme," Dina told Radar. "She has filled out an application for a new passport. We've filed the necessary police reports. We're actively trying to get her home."
Lohan's lawyer previously admitted to "occasional weeks" when Lindsay missed her treatment class but said she managed to attend make-up sessions.
The treatment school recently filed a favorable report with the court, TMZ reported Tuesday, but it might not be enough to satisfy the fed-up judge.
Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Marsha Revel already has disciplined Lohan multiple times for missing classes and ordered her in December to attend on a weekly basis without exception.
"This has to be done once a week," Revel said at a December hearing. "Right now the other things will take second place and this will take first place."
Michael Lohan said he plans to be in court Thursday to plead with the judge to send his daughter to rehab.
France is the same country that director Roman Polanski fled to France to avoid sentencing in his 1970s criminal case. He was finally nabbed earlier this year by Swiss cops on a U.S. warrant and is now under house arrest.
